Genesis Block

The first block of a blockchain, marking the public starting point of the coin.

The genesis block is the very first block of a blockchain, the foundation every later block builds upon and the point where a coin's history officially begins. It is hard-coded into the node software with a fixed hash, so it cannot be quietly altered without every node rejecting the change. For a fair launch, the genesis block is the most important reference point because it marks where emission starts. In Malairte's case the genesis block carries no pre-loaded treasury or insider balance; it only establishes network parameters such as the starting difficulty. A clean genesis block is the first piece of evidence that a launch was fair.
